Pathways is a school that helps support students in a blended learning environment. This means that students learn content from a computer and have elements of face-to-face instruction such as content-specific seminars, one-on-one instruction, and final assessments.
Traditional Diploma Program: full time enrollment for students 17 years of age or older, have 11 or more credits and are seeking to earn a traditional 23 credit diploma.
Competency Based Diploma Program: full time enrollment for students 17 years of age or older and are significantly credit deficient. This program requires students to demonstrate proficiency in four WorkKeys tests, pass six Workforce Soft Skills courses, and pass Government and Personal Finance courses.
While the guidelines above describe typical situations, we know that students don't always fit nicely into one of the programs. We work with counselors, students, and families to review students' past, present, and their goals for the future to develop a graduation plan specifically to meet their needs.
Pathways has multiple types of courses that students will take and each has a different method of calculating the overall grade.
Edgenuity courses are our primary curriculum delivery system. The final grade will be based on the a traditional scale: A, B, C, and D. 20% of the final grade is calculated through formative assessments and 80% of the grade is calculated through summative assessments. Students have multiple opportunities to pass the class but will earn an <F> on their transcript if they do not complete the course by the end of the hexter.
Formative assessments include: weekly progress grades, lesson quizzes, participation in the required content seminar, and additional assessments as determined by your teacher
Summative assessments include: the final exam as assigned by your teacher, the required content seminar assessment, final exams through Compass, and additional assessments as determined by your teacher
KeyTrain courses are used to prepare students for the WorkKeys tests. KeyTrain courses are pass/fail grades and are determined by the student passing the WorkKeys test at the required level.
The WorkKeys course used toward a traditional diploma is worth 0.5 credit.
Work Based/Volunteer Courses
Experiential credits are earned when a student completes his or her required hours and presents his or her project to the staff.
A student may earn a maximum of 4.0 general elective credits of experiential credit.
Pathways offers several ways to keep track of progress through courses.
Student progress is posted every Wednesday in Infinite Campus. This will provide information about if your student is progressing through the class at the rate that they need to be to ensure that they will complete the course prior to the end of the semester. This will not, however, provide specific grade information. The grades will be posted after the student has completed the course and will include the following:
Weekly progress grades
Participation in required content seminar and completion of the seminar assessment
Lesson quizzes and objective exams
Students and families can check progress in Edgenuity. Each student has a unique login and password to the program. Please ask your student to see his or her progress in Edgenuity.
