Students learn about options at career and college fair

Students learn about options at career and college fair

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, we made a quick stop in our daily educational activities and turned our main level into a huge information center with our Fall Career and College Fair.

Students had the chance to visit fifteen different tables to learn about after school opportunities. There was a wide variety of educational options like UCCS, Front Range Community College, Red Rocks Community College CSU Pueblo, Aims, UCCS and Empire Beauty School. Military options like the Army, Marines and Navy were present in full uniform, dress and fatigues. Employers and employment resources like Mi Casa Resource Center, offered opportunities to students for possible interviews and further information about careers.

Overall, the fair was a hit! Students were very excited as they walked around, gathered information, asked questions, and even scheduled appointments for a more detailed one-on-one information session with the presenters. It made a huge difference for our students to learn what options are available and that it is not unreasonable to plan for high education. Our school hosts two fairs per school year: one in the fall and one in the spring. We already have new guests confirmed for the spring so we are anticipating another successful Career and College Fair here at Pathway in a few months. Watch the calendar for updates.

This story exemplifies our ELEVATE Focus Area: Outside-the-Classroom Learning. Sharing stories about how the district offers students multiple learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom providing various pathways to success.
